From People-Pleasing to Purpose: Samuel’s Journey of Transformation

Brave Impact has changed the way I see leadership, service, and my purpose.
Before joining the Brave Impact Leadership Academy, I struggled significantly with people-pleasing and lacked a strong sense of self-identity. I often found myself focused on pleasing others rather than confidently understanding and expressing who I was.
But my journey through BILA began to change that.
Through the program, I grew in confidence, leadership, teamwork, and compassion. BILA gave me opportunities not only to learn about leadership but also to practice it—to serve others, take responsibility, work with people, and step outside my comfort zone.
One of the most important lessons I learned is that leadership is not simply about achieving a goal or accomplishing a vision. Leadership is also about who you become on the journey toward achieving that vision.
BILA challenged me to become more intentional about who I am, how I relate with others, and the contribution I can make to my community.
From Transformation to Impact
My BILA journey did not end with graduation.
Today, I serve as a leader within Brave Impact, continuing to contribute to the same organization that played a significant role in my own development.
I have also been able to pursue entrepreneurship through Mr Fix It, my company, while also serving the community through the Uncle Sam Foundation, which is committed to feeding street-connected children around Nairobi.
These opportunities have helped me understand that purpose is not merely something we discover—it is something we live out through our choices, our work, and our service to others.
Most importantly, BILA changed my understanding of what true impact means.

Today, I am grateful that I have the opportunity to make that difference—not only through my leadership, but also through entrepreneurship and community service.
While I have been part of changing lives through Brave Impact, Brave Impact has also changed mine.
My journey continues to remind me that leadership begins with transformation within. When we discover who we are, understand our purpose, and develop the courage to serve others, our lives can become a source of impact.
